The Works program in each county connects young people aged 16-26 with local companies for an 8-10 week internship from approximately June 17-August 9 2019. If you’ve ever thought about hiring interns at your company, this is a great opportunity because NW Works will recruit, screen, and conduct pre-employment training with all interns, as well as providing logistical and program support throughout the internship.
In addition to working with a company, interns will attend a weekly professional development meeting where they will learn about skills like finance, customer service, etc. By giving youth structured instruction and hands on experience, they will gain professional confidence, competence, and income. By hiring youth through our program, businesses will increase their company visibility in the community, improve workforce quality in the county, and possibly find some great new workers!

Businesses interview and hire their own interns
Once a week, interns attend a professional development meeting led by a different business.
At the half way point and at the end of the internship, businesses and students fill out a short feedback form

Designated employee mentor for each intern
An hourly wage, stipend, or student incentive (WIOA funding may be available for eligible interns and host sites)
Exposure to a variety of positions within your organization
Recruitment of candidates
Prescreening of candidates to ensure business requirements are met
Pre-employment training in soft skills such as professional dress, communication, timeliness
Coordination of professional development meetings
Ongoing support for both businesses and interns
