Disney parks around the world are the perfect place to propose to fans of the Disney empire. Whether it’s love for nostalgia, for star Warsor just the magic of sparkling castles, Disney resorts around the world are a love hub where couples can come together and celebrate each other against the backdrop of a Disney theme park.
In fact, one recent offering at a Disneyland resort in Anaheim, Southern California went viral on social media after it seemingly closed. star Wars: Edge of the Galaxy.

The Disneyland Resort, Walt’s Playground, and the birthplace of the Disney Parks brand is, for many, the center of the universe. A hive of magic, fairy dust, and that ever-shining essence of nostalgia, Disneyland attracts millions of visitors every year. There are two theme parks, Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park, Downtown Disneyland, and three hotels on site. Although smaller than its US counterpart, Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, the charm of Disneyland cannot be found anywhere else – even with so many changes in recent years.
One of the new additions to Disneyland is star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge lands at Disneyland Park. Black Spire outpost Batuu arrived just over three years ago and gave star Wars fans at home in a galaxy far, far away. With two rides: The Millennium Falcon: The Way of the Smugglers and star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, as well as places to build lightsabers and droids, and even the local watering hole Oga’s Cantina, Galaxy’s Edge is a real feat of Walt Disney Imagineering.
It’s the perfect place for fans of the George Lucas franchise to have fun, dress up, wield a lightsaber, and even get engaged. That’s exactly what happened most recently at Disneyland’s Black Spire Outpost, when a guest knelt in front of Han Solo’s beloved starship and asked his girlfriend to marry him, all with the help of a Disney cast member and a roaring crowd.
The moment was shared by Disney Parks on TikTok. The company stated:
The only acceptable reason to drop your lightsaber
The only acceptable reason to throw your lightsaber ✨ (via: @Naty Madrigal) #StarWars #GalaxysEdge #Proposal #DisneyWorld

The guest, identified as Nati Madrigal, the original owner of the video, poses for photos with a Disney Cast member armed with a red lightsaber as her boyfriend kneels on one knee in the background. The actor then says, “Turn to the Falcon” and when the Guest does, she gets the surprise of her life. Throwing away her saber (oops!), Miss Madrigal embraces her beau, and the streets of Batuu rejoice with joy. It’s a resounding response from the crowd that shows just how special Disney’s offering can be.

While many reveled in the joy of Galaxy Edge’s Edge-themed offering, some in the comments were quick to point out the lightsaber drop, noting that Disney’s lightsaber, which can be made at Savi’s Workshop – Handcrafted Lightsabers, is priced at 249.99 US dollars plus tax. But hey, who can appreciate love?
