Marvel is generally pretty good at keeping its secrets and often says that deleted scenes are generally non-canon and shouldn’t be taken as spoilers. However, given that these episodes with Drax and Mantis were filmed, this could mean that Mantis is Ego’s child. This is a huge hint that she is Peter Quill’s sister and could be of great importance to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
Another reason this Marvel spoiler is important is because Drax and Mantis are the main characters in the game. Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Edition releases this Friday, and we’ll likely see what major MCU plot points will propel the ragtag superhero team forward. James Gunn stated that the holiday release makes a difference to the bigger MCU and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 history, so this Marvel spoiler might just be a huge one that the company was trying to hide.
